“Ya‘teek el-‘afyeh” means may God give you strength. It is everyday Jordanian warmth. “Allah y‘afeek” is the natural reply.
“Tfaḍḍal” does a lot of work.
Come in. Sit. Eat. Take this. Go ahead. You will hear it in homes, shops and at tables; the repeated invitation is part of the hospitality, not pressure to perform.
Some promises come with a head gesture.
“‘Ala rasi” means on my head. It is a warm way of saying consider it done, with respect. Jordanian conversation is full of these small signals that make logistics feel human.
